Your lead tutor
Meet Tom Kappler
Safety Nation Ltd (NEBOSH LP 1387) was founded in 2016 and has since delivered NEBOSH NGC, MHR, INV, IOSH Managing Safely, ISEO and first aid training across the UK. Tom founded the business on a simple belief: health and safety training should be delivered by people who have lived it, not just studied it.
Tom spent 11 years as an Army Officer — Major, 9th/12th Royal Lancers — commanding between 12 and 400 personnel across the UK, Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, Canada and Kenya. Every day he was accountable for real operational health and safety: risk assessment under pressure, incident investigation, contractor management, COSHH, manual handling, and safety leadership at every level.
Since 2013, Tom has worked as an H&S consultant and trainer. He delivers every NEBOSH NGC personally and is your named learning advisor from your first call through to results day. He is currently studying the NEBOSH National Diploma.
“I respond to every enquiry personally, within 48 hours. You’ll have my direct number and email from day one — call or message me any time on 07766 331710.”
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
No formal entry requirements. NEBOSH recommends a minimum English language standard equivalent to IELTS 6.0. If English is not your first language, please let us know at enquiry stage — our team can discuss appropriate support.
Everything. Safety Nation’s pricing covers: 10 days of tuition, all NEBOSH-licensed 2026 syllabus materials (GNC1 and GNC2), a named learning advisor throughout, all formative assessments including the Day 4 GNC1 mock paper with written feedback, and both NEBOSH assessment registration fees — GNC1 (£95) and GNC2 (£95). These are paid directly to NEBOSH by Safety Nation on your behalf. Face-to-face: £1,700 + VAT. Virtual: £1,500 + VAT. That is the total cost.
GNC2 is a practical risk assessment carried out in a real workplace — ideally your own, but a colleague’s, family member’s or a voluntary placement also works. You identify hazards, assess risks, evaluate controls and recommend improvements using the NEBOSH GNC2 form.
Under the 2026 syllabus, GNC2 is submitted via the NEBOSH Assessment Platform within 10 working days of GNC1. The pass mark is 60/100. Our tutors introduce GNC2 requirements on Day 5 and provide a full platform walkthrough on Day 10, and are available to support you up to your submission deadline.
Under the 2026 syllabus, both your GNC1 and GNC2 results are released together — 60 working days from your GNC1 assessment date. This is a change from the previous syllabus: you now receive your complete qualification outcome at the same time for both units. Your Safety Nation advisor will let you know as soon as results are through.
Both units must be passed within 5 years of your first assessment date. If you receive a refer on GNC1, you can resit it — NEBOSH will send you a mark breakdown to help you prepare. If your GNC2 is not met, you receive examiner feedback and can resubmit. Safety Nation provides post-results support including feedback review and resit preparation. You can also resit GNC1 voluntarily even if you passed it, to improve your overall grade.
Yes — this is our primary delivery model. Our tutors travel to your site anywhere in the UK. You provide a suitable training room (we send a venue checklist in advance) and we bring everything else. This eliminates travel and hotel costs for your team, keeps your group together, and allows course content to be anchored in your actual workplace — which is especially valuable for GNC2.
The content is broadly unchanged — NEBOSH confirmed the existing syllabus remained fit for purpose. The key changes are: units renamed from NG1/NG2 to GNC1/GNC2; GNC2 now uses a points-based marking system (60/100 pass mark instead of met/not met); GNC2 is submitted via the NEBOSH Assessment Platform within 10 working days of GNC1; and both results are released together, 60 working days from GNC1. All Safety Nation materials are fully updated for the 2026 syllabus.
Yes. Safety Nation regularly delivers to groups of 6–15 at a single company location. In-company delivery is often more cost-effective than sending individuals to open courses, and keeps your team training together in their own context.
